Obi Finally Accepts there was no N75bn Cash

  Ifeadinmesi: Obi_and_Obiano
The Anambra state governor Chief Willie Obiano have every reason to be happy today because for the first time in many months, his predecessor Mr. Peter Obi through his Media Aide Mr. Val Obienyem accepted on live television that the former governor did not hand over N75bn cash afterall.

Introducing the Real Peter Obi – Part 2 by Obiora Aghadinuno

Fashola, Daddy Showkey and Peter Obi

The trouble with Peter Obi is that he was never able to rise above the pale of ordinariness in his eight years as governor of Nigeria’s most gifted state. He lacked the colour, the charisma and the carriage that should come with the governor of Anambra State – land of the brave. In fact, Peter’s personality was intensely antithetical to the fire and glory that are inborn to onye Anambra. Obodo ndi odogwu! Where we are gregarious, excitable and generous, Peter is reclusive, timid and parsimonious. He lacks the oomph, the finishing touches that set us apart from our Igbo brothers. All that Peter has is cunning, deviousness and doublespeak! Even the Ikemba Nnewi, saw that and recoiled from him. His wife, Iyom Bianca expressed horror when Peter’s cunning and deviousness finally unravelled and she was brilliant enough to describe the personage that emerged as “a food-is-ready-politician.” Peter’s transmogrification couldn’t have been better captured, really. Iyom Bianca holds the singular honour of finally peeling off the man’s hood and calling our attention to the Real Peter Obi!

Anambra FA Election: Group Protests Planned Imposition of Candidate

Scores of football lovers in Anambra State under the aegis of Concerned Football Stakeholders yesterday protested the alleged plot to impose a candidate for the forthcoming Chairmanship election of Anambra football Association to be organized by the Nigeria Football Federation.

The protesters who were mainly drawn from major cities of Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi and Ekwulobia said some big names in Anambra are conniving with the football Glass House to manipulate the State FA election.

Introducing the Real Peter Obi Part 1 By Obiora Aghadinuno

The trouble with Peter Obi is that he thinks that he is cleverer than everyone else. He maintains a bland and colourless surface that conceals a grandiose interior. He talks with the voice of a woman in a labour but carries a heart of stone. He maintains a well cultivated religious outlook but his soul is the engine room of demons. The former governor of Anambra State reminds me of a luscious apple with a large maggot neatly embedded in its middle. So, can we really blame those who mistake him for a good man?

REBUTTAL: GOVERNOR OBIANO TAKES UMUERI AGULERI WAR TO A HIGHER LEVEL

In recent times we have observed a ratchet of very strange insinuations, messages and statements being attributed to the peace loving people of Umueri in an effort to rekindle the long forgone dispute with our neighbouring brothers, Agulerians or peach Ndi Umueri against the visibly working governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano. A recent statement tagged “Governor Obiano Takes Umueri Aguleri War To A Higher Level “  and released online by an unknown, and more accurately, illegal group called Greater Umueri Liberation Forum (GULF) do not represent the position and interest of Umueri or its people.

Peter Obi, Maxi Okwu and their Media Aides... The Sinking Continues!

If Chief Peter Obi had known that he will today fall so low in the political equation of Nigeria, perhaps he would have stuck to the only party that gave him all the political relevance he has got.

Facebook jesters and peanut seekers, who feed from stipends shared by Obi through his one-man aide, Val Obienyem would argue that Chief Obi was made before becoming Anambra’s governor and still remains a top shot in business world. However the truth remains that, Obi’s only political success began when he entered All Progressives Grand Alliance and started dwindling as soon as he left APGA. Today he is out of the equation and only exists in the imagination of political jobbers.

Obiano’s Growing Popularity Rattles the Opposition who mounts vicious attacks by Ejimonu Udenka

The growing popularity of the Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano who turned sixty Saturday has rattled the opposition who have resorted to vicious attacks and campaign of calumny aimed at whittling down the accolades from Ndi Anambra and his admirers across Nigeria which trailed the birthday anniversary.

Communique: Traditional Rulers React to the Transfer of Boko Haram to Prisons in Anambra State

COMMUNIQUE BY THE TRADITIONAL RULERS OF ANAMBRA STATE ON THE TRANSFER OF BOKO HARAM SECT MEMBERS TO THE STATE.

At an emergency meeting held on Friday, 3rd July, 2015, the Anambra State Traditional Rulers raised the following concerns:

Leaders of Anambra Communities React to Boko Haram Prisoners Transfer

We the Presidents General (Community Leaders) of the 177 communities in Anambra State, under the auspices of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) received with shock, embarrassment and disdain the news that the Nigerian Prisons Service, a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs had transferred some detainees of the dreaded violent terrorists of Boko Haram extraction from Borno State in the North East Zone of Nigeria to Ekwulobia in Aguata Local government Area of Anambra State.

Ekwulobia Boko Haram Saga: Obiano in Closed Door Meeting with Delegation from Abuja

Ifeadinmesi: Gov Obiano in a grouppix
The controversies generated by the curious transfer of 47 Boko Haram suspects to Ekwulobia Prisons in Anambra State may soon go away following a 2-hour closed door meeting Wednesday between the governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano and a 7-man delegation from the National Security Adviser at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

BOKO HARAM PRISONERS, SALT IN OUR INJURIES by Hon. Chinedu Nkwonta

Nigeria and the entire world know that the highest victims of the insurgency in the Northern part of this country has been the South East, Ndigbo. There is no State in Igbo land that has not gotten reasonable shares of the consequences of the bombings and killings perpetrated by this callous and deadly sect.

It clearly amounts to insensitivity from the part of the decision makers on security matters in this country to lumber us with the same people that have killed most of us, maimed some of us, displaced some of us, made some of us refugees in our country, chased so many of us away from the locations we have lived and invested our efforts and sweat over the years. These internally displaced brothers and sisters of ours, instead of getting compensated by the Government, instead of being rehabilitated emotionally, psychologically and financially for irreparable and irreplaceable losses that they have suffered, are now being pursued into the villages by dumping the same people that have been dealing with us ruthlessly at our door steps.

Uche Ekwunife’s future in the Senate may be short-lived as Nnamdi Eze of PDP Concedes at the Tribunal

The sojourn of Iyom Uche Ekwunife in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District may be short-lived following the sudden turn of events at the Anambra Election Petition Tribunal holding in Awka. In a surprise move, the man who was initially returned by INEC as winner in the House of Representatives for Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia Federal Constituency, Dr. Nnamdi Eze of PDP conceded defeat to Mr. Dozie nwankwo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Dr Eze and his party PDP accepted that Mr. Nwankwo is the real winner in the election based on the computation of total results collated at the respective Polling Booths in the constituency and should have been declared winner. The dramatic turn of event was said to have surprised the Head of the Tribunal, Justice Nayal Aganaba who reportedly expressed shock at the development.

Opposition’s Feeble Attacks against Obiano

It's becoming laughable how unemployed political apologists of Mr Peter Obi make endless efforts to discredit the ever growing influence of Gov Willie Obiano of Anambra State.

Prior to the 2015 General Elections, they had cooked all manner of lies and malicious stories aimed at blackmailing Governor Obiano presenting him as a prodigal son who forgot his godfather, Obi in the evil forest.

The Unmasking of A Saint

The oldest Institution on earth is the Church and sorry for being fanatical, the Catholic Church Precisely! Very organized, highly uniformed, full of traditions and have survived for over 2,000 years. Her doctrines are well laid out and her teachings infallibly-handed down from generation to generation. One remarkable line in her numerous teachings is that the church is a church of saints and sinners! It is not a monopoly of saints nor an institution where all arrogate Sainthood unto themselves and see no room for examination of conscience and mea culpa to God and humanity. I was brought up in this tradition, I believe in it and so too must all who belong to that Christendom. I am sure Peter Obi, the ex-governor of Anambra State belongs to this tradition too.

Joe Martins: A Reply to A Ranting Elder

Who is this Joe martin Uzodike from Awka-Etiti who has never in his entire political life won any election!!!

Ordinarily some of us with ever busy weekends should not have bothered to respond to the display of absolute stupidity by always the same very loud mouth, Chief Joe Martin Uzodike.

Chief Joe martin Uzodike from Awka-Etiti who has never in his entire political life won any election, not even a ward election in his native Awka-Etiti except always grandstanding was made a commissioner simply because he was a secondary school mate of former governor Peter Obi can now open his elastic mouth to insult the person of the most popular Governor since the creation of Anambra state.

Before Val Obienyem Destroys what is left of Peter Obi’s image

Val Obienyem, a man who owes his name recognition merely to his association with Mr. Peter Obi has become very irritable lately and for reasons best known to him, has been threading on the “obscene and contemptible.” The vituperations he has been directing at the Anambra seat of power and the person of the governor have brought to the fore the disdain Mr. Obienyem has for either the office left by his boss barely a year ago, or the current occupant.

Chief Peter Obi’s Indulgence in Denigrating Successor’s Office

 http://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/kofr3vt220_anambra_state_governor_peter_obi.jpg?6888b7
Despite the many public denials of love lost between Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State and Chief Peter Obi, the ex-governor of the state, the discerning public is not deceived by the apparent subtleties in the utterances of these persons who ordinarily should understand the necessity to save the people from the consequences of an ignoble partisan duel. The consciousness of the governor and his predecessor to manage whatever provisional differences they might have would have either resolved the dispute or suppressed uncouth provocations, but for the enormous energy deployed by Chief Obi’s media aides whom he has permitted, or commissioned, to malign Gov Obiano and thereby defame the Office of the Governor of Anambra State.

Fresh Fears over Anambra Assembly Election as Arthur Eze Moves to Influence Results

The last has not been heard of last Saturday’s House of Assembly election in Anambra State as many people in Dunukofia are worried about stories making the round that businessman and philanthropist, Prince Cheif Engr. Arthur Eze is making some moves to change the result of the April 11, 2015 election and put his own candidate as the winner.

According to information, pressure has been mounted on INEC officials in the state, making the Returning Officer to run into hiding to save his life after turning down bribe offered to him to announce a new winner.  As at the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the Returning Officer, Dr. Theophilus Alumona is unknown.

The Unraveling of Val Obienyem By Obiora Aghadinuno

Ever since his master handed over power to his successor in the first peaceful transition in Anambra State, Val Obienyem has cut the pitiable picture of a marooned dog, baying at the moon. In the past one year or so, Obienyem who was thrown out of Seminary school for many egregious offences has shown the world why he was considered unfit for the priesthood. The Agulu-born midget has demonstrated remarkable deviousness, assuming different unimaginable characters on Facebook to cast a spear at Governor Willie Obiano. At different times, Obienyem has worn the mask of Akuko si Anambra, Fact Finders, Ikuku Ama N’onya, APGA Alaigbo, Eziokwu bu Ndu and a dozen other weird monikers to attack the subject of his pet hate – Governor Willie Obiano. Not surprisingly, observers are beginning to wonder why Obienyem has chosen this regrettable path of bitterness. Why is he so angry?

APGA vs Buhari - Court Adjourns Hearing to April 4

 Ifeadinmesi: Buhari _vs_Igbeke
As Nigerians brace up for what promises to be the nation’s most intriguing elections in recent times, the fate of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari is hanging in the balance as the Federal High Court presided over by Justice Mohammed I Abubakar began hearing yesterday of a suit filed by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Senator Alphonsus Igbeke seeking the disqualification of General Buhari for breaching relevant provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Electoral Act 2010 by seeking to contest election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress Party (APCP) which the plaintiffs contend is not an existing political party in Nigeria today.

Revealed: How we made the Peter Obi Video

 http://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/kofr3vt220_anambra_state_governor_peter_obi.jpg?6888b7
When a group of us decided to show a little bit about Mr. Peter Obi that most members of the public do not know, we felt sufficiently justified in our actions because we resolved that we will not lie about the man but present the facts based on his past utterances over eight years as governor of Anambra State under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). That is the making of Peter Obi: The Inconsistency of Man.

Let me make a confession, apart from the time spent on research and gathering the material the video was done within one Hour because they are readily available. I know we did not spend more than N50, 000.00 but had hoped that if we could get the Obiano media team to buy the idea we would at least recoup the expense but we were rebuffed.

Truth Ignored by Peter Obi’s Internet Rats

I cannot agree any less with Kinsley Udemezue. It will take more than the maligning posts of internet rats like Fejiro Oliver and APGA Alaigbo to diminish the towering personality of Governor Willie Obiano. It is understandable why they have consistently attacked the governor. What Obiano achieved in security, infrastructure, investments, welfare, environment, transportation etc within 1 year, their pay master could not in 8 years. What he had, at best, was a middling achievement. In the words of Professor Chukwuma Soludo Peter used his 8 years in office to circulate poverty in Anambra state. He paid Anambra workers slave wage and gypped political appointees of their allowances. He would travel light only to return and collect allowances of those who should travel with him, but did not.

Peter Obi’s Unrepentant Demeanour

Chief Peter Obi shocked his admirers and all when he abandoned his parent political party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, to join the People’s Democratic Party just lean months after his 8year reign as the governor of Anambra State. Whatever Obi could adduce for the act which many find most distasteful, he has weightier explanations to advance for his hankering after and viciously insisting on an overrule in the affairs of Obiano’s Anambra State, an order he was instrumental to instituting. Obi’s sulky expressions, too soon after leaving power, give him out as one who is ill prepared for life devoid of the executive flair he so warmly craved and cherished while his power lasted. His simulated denials of ensnarement by office pomp make another day’s subject.

PETER OBI IS THE ARCHITECT OF HIS PROBLEMS

v
It may well be the case that Mr Fejiro Oliver, not being from Anambra State truly does not know that Mr Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State, created for himself the credibility crisis he suffers today.  In a story published by an online medium,’ Secret Reporters’, Oliver, accuses Governor Willie Obiano of trying to destroy Peter Obi! And the evidence? A video by Odenigbo Productions, demonstrating the inconsistency in Obi’s periodic vows not to ever leave APGA for another political party is being flaunted as breaking news of the Governor’s involvement!

Members of APGA who feel let down by Obi may well have an interest in taking Obi to task for his trickery.  I do not think those who produced the video are saying Peter Obi has no right to join another political party. It is the crafty politician’s fundamental right. It appears to me that they are saying; let us put the records straight. This man declared many times that APGA was not just a political party;  that it was a mass movement; a vehicle for all progressives, minorities and others marginalized by the existing set – up for going to the centre to renegotiate the Nigerian federation. They are saying how can you make such important pronouncements, turn your back on your words the next day and still be posing as a leader to be relied upon?

The Rant of a Yesterday Man

Obiano won’t dump APGA for PDP –Uzodike
There is eternal wisdom in the saying “never outshine your boss” as espoused by Fr. Baltasar Graciani and amplified in 48 Laws of Power, but that seems to have been lost on Chief Joe-Martins Uzodike otherwise referred to as Dikeudo, until recently the Special Adviser Political to Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano. Unfortunately for Joe-Martins, when he found it difficult to outshine his boss, he chose to disparage him. When I read somewhere that he was sacked from his appointment, my immediate reaction was that it was long expected because from my estimate and knowledge of the man, he never added any value to the vibrant team assembled in the new Anambra state cabinet.

I don’t have anything personal grudge against Joe-Martins, aka Buzuzu. A swash-buckler whose loud disposition earned recognition amongst his peers, Joe-martins pride himself as a man with good knowledge of the media. Hence he jumps at the headship of anything that has element of publicity. Of course, he had his days as spokesman for Rangers and ran an outfit which in those days is classified as Press Agentry. He was appointed Commissioner for Information by Governor Peter Obi and subsequently Director General Willie Obiano Campaign Organization in late 2013. Whether he acquitted himself creditably on that post is a story for another day.

Group Uncovers Plot to pitch President Jonathan against Obiano, Warns of Dire Consequences

The Initiative for Change Organization (ICO), a civil society and democracy watch group has alerted the general public of a highly organized and well-funded campaign being sponsored against the person of the governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, by some disgruntled politicians in the Anambra State chapter of the PDP.

In a Press Statement issued at the weekend the group claimed that it had uncovered a massive smear campaign worth N100m sponsored by some PDP elements in the state to discredit all the great achievements of Governor Willie Obiano and incite the Presidency against him.

RE: Fact Finders - Another Post from a Depraved Mind

The attention of Media Ethics & Rights Initiative has been drawn to a fabricated story from a faceless mischief maker on Facebook who hides under the title of Fact Finders to spew poisonous gossips aimed at creating disaffection between prominent people in Anambra State. The latest story in the devilish scheme of this paid rumour merchant is a post titled: “PDP is full of Mad People like Arthur Eze and Chris Uba - Obiano,” which made a failed attempt to pitch His Excellency Governor Willie Obiano against some illustrious sons of Anambra State.

This tall tale from an itinerant reporter who could not pin down his last appointment with The Nation Newspaper and has resorted to fronting for some fallen gods in the state should be ignored as it is an expired emission from a deluded mind. If the author of this Satanic Verse were not a coward, we dare him to cast aside his fake name and show his true identity on social media. We have followed his infantile gossips on his discredited blog which he routinely uses to mow down innocent people and we wish to remind him of the Chinese proverb which said that the ways of a liar is short.

ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES DEALERS MARKET OBOSI SAYS IT IS VICTOR UMEH

The Electrical Appliances Dealers Market Obosi played host to the campaign train of Chief (Sir) Victor Umeh, the APGA candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial District.

In his welcome address, the President-General of Southeast Traders Association extolled the virtues of Chief Umeh. He regaled the people with the story of the exploits of Chief Umeh at the National Confab and affirmed the overwhelming support of Anambra Traders for the candidacy of Chief Umeh.

He stated emphatically that the Senate is for those who have the clout to speak up for Igbo interests at the National Assembly.

MULTIPLE CANDIDATES: AWKA HIGH COURT FINALLY RESTRAINS PDP ELEMENTS FROM CAMPAIGNING

The vaunting ambition of Hon Mrs. Uche Ekwunife who is seeking to represent Anambra Central in the Senate and other PDP stalwarts seeking elective positions in Anambra State in the coming general elections has finally grounded to a halt following an injunction from Federal High Court 1, sitting in Awka, restraining PDP and tow others from putting up multiple candidates for one elective position in the coming elections.

This followed a motion brought before Justice Ibrahim Bature Gafai by the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and two others in which the plaintiff prayed the court to restrain PDP from presenting multiple candidates for the same positions in the coming elections outside of those that were duly cleared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

VICTOR UMEH A SENATOR NDIGBO MUST ENDEVOUR TO HAVE

Indeed time is now at hand. Ndigbo must once again be reminded of doing the needful. The primary elections of all parties are over with exception to that of Anambra PDP that shall and always be resolved in the court of law. But before this time, that is the election proper, Ndigbo needs to be reminded of the hard fact that 2015 is a very crucial year for Igbo survival. It is of necessity to inform Ndigbo that owing to the precarious nature of things especially as concerns the politics of Nigeria, we do not for any reason need to dare gamble with the forthcoming election especially as regards electing candidates, particularly, candidates of bold conscience.

How Uche Ekwunife And Her Convoy Run From Anambra Breaches Of Peace Law

 UcheConvoy
A melodrama reminiscent of Nollywood theatrics ensued over the weekend along Onitsha-Awka end of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway by Nawfia, when the political campaign convoy of Mrs. Ekwunife ran for cover to avoid possible arrest for illegal campaign and breach of the peace in Anambra State.
Ekwunife’s convoy which was en-route Awka after campaign stops in near-by towns turned and ran on citing heavy presence of security personnel by the Nawfia axis on the Expressway.

The event which took place along the busy Onitsha-Awka end of the busy Expressway drew the attention of the villagers who suddenly noticed many cars in the Ekwunife convoy making a quick U-turn and running back to Awkuzu while one of the cars carrying Mrs. Ekwunife veered into the near-by village route to avoid detection on citing the blockade of the road by security personnel trying to quell an altercation by some Nawfia residents laying claims to the parcel of land where the burrow pit is located.

ANAMBRA YOUTHS PROTEST MULTIPLE CANDIDATES, ISSUE ULTIMATUM TO INEC

Hundreds of agitated youths converged at the Independent National Electoral Commission’s office at Awka , Anambra State on Tuesday, demanding action by the Commission to stop aspirants not listed as their party’s candidates in the State from continued electoral campaigns. The youths who marched through the streets of Awka in the scorching mid day sun to vent their anger said they were giving INEC forty – eight hours to enforce the provisions of the electoral laws on party candidacy or forget about holding elections in Anambra State.

Presenting their grievances to the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Engr Edwin Nwatalari, the President – General, Coalition of Anambra Youth, Comrade Ikem Maduagwu, faulted the electoral commission, the Police and other security agencies for looking the other way while self – declared candidates created confusion, soliciting for votes.

The Executive Director of Media Ethnics and Rights Initiative, an Onitsha based media critic and responsible journalism advocacy group, Prince Ezekiel Amanambu, has commended the Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano and the Anambra State House of Assembly for the bold initiative to pass the Breaches of Peace and Unlawful Assemblies Prohibition Law 2015 which prohibits Engagement in Unlawful Assemblies and Campaigns in such a manner as to cause Public disorder and Breach of Peace in Anambra State. Prince Ezekiel Amanambu was speaking to newsmen in Awka over the weekend as part of the nation-wide efforts to ensure conduct of peaceful elections in February 2015.

RE: UCHE EKWUNIFE IS A FAILED WIFE AND MOTHER

Our attention has been drawn to an online interview granted by the unconscionable irritant Uche Ekwunife to Ashiwaju.org where she repeatedly called our distinguished Principal, Chief (Sir) Victor Umeh KSJ, FNVIS, OFR a rat. We are shocked beyond words that an Igbo woman can come out openly to insult and call names on a man who is old enough to be her husband if not older without any iota of provocation. This is an anathema to Igbo cultural values. To think that a mother and a woman supposedly under a man could do this calls for a lot of questions on her upbringing, her family values, her value as a wife and her value as a mother. Is there any honour in the supposedly "Honourable" Mrs. Uche Ekwunife?

It is clear that Uche Ekwunife has no iota of regard for her husband as no woman under a man can carry on the way she does. She has reduced her husband to a vegetable and jettisoned every value that a married woman is known for. We challenge Uche Ekwunife to show us her husband so that the world would see the poor man for themselves. Our Principal goes everywhere with his wife. Even the President goes on campaigns with his wife. Where is Uche Ekwunife's husband? Is she telling the world that she is a widow? She should not carry on as if she were a widow for her husband is not yet dead. He is hale and hearty.

For Victor Umeh, Victory Beckons with Open Arms

As the race for the Anambra Central Senatorial Seat gathers momentum, Chief Victor Umeh, the APGA candidate walks around with an indulgent smile on his face. And why not? Unlike other candidates who are engaged in a titanic race against the wind, Chief Umeh is running a great race with all the elements in his favour. And here are the reasons –

The Day Over 50,000 Persons Gathered At Agulu To Endorse Victor Umeh

It was a triumphant entry of a bold and courageous warrior. Just recently, over fifty thousand persons gathered at the Civic Centre in Agulu to endorse Chief (Sir) Victor Umeh as their candidate of choice for the Anambra Central Senatorial election.

People from the four wards and the twenty-two villages that make up Agulu trouped out en masse to Agulu Civic Centre to receive Umeh.

Speakers that spoke at the event echoed that if not for Chief Victor Umeh's support for their son, Peter Obi, Agulu people will not be boasting today of producing a governor of Anambra State. They also said that his achievements at the national conference set him apart from other candidates.

One of the speakers explained that Agulu and Aguluizigbo which is home town of Chief Victor Umeh are brothers, and stated clearly that they will not leave their brother and support another person.

In admiration, the Present-General of Agulu People's Union represented by Chief Leo Okeke thanked Chief Victor Umeh for standing behind their son, Chief Peter Obi all through his eight years as the governor of Anambra State.

In his speech, the President-General emeritus of Agulu People's Union, Chief Azubuike Okoye, the Odenigbo Agulu who is also the APGA candidate for Anocha 1 State Constituency, recalled the exploits of Chief Victor Umeh at the National Confab. He recalled that it was through the agitations of Umeh that the Confab adopted the resolution to change the revenue sharing formula on the basis of number of local governments to the basis of states. He described Chief Victor Umeh as a man who has worked so much for the advancement of Ndigbo and Nigeria in general.

Also the Motorcycle Transport Union of Nigeria, Anaocha Chapter endorsed Chief Victor Umeh saying he is their candidate for the Senate, Anambra Central.

ANAMBRA ASSEMBLY OUTLAWS CAMPAIGN BY ASPIRANTS SCREENED OUT BY INEC

The Anambra State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed into law a bill prohibiting political aspirants whose names did not appear on the final list of candidates cleared by the Independent National Elections Commission (INEC) to stand for elective posts in the coming general elections.

Titled “Breaches of the Peace and Unlawful Assemblies Law, the legislation which took immediate effect from January 20, 2015 stipulates in Section 3 (1) that: “A person shall not advertise, publish, and solicit for votes for or otherwise engage in any campaign for himself or for a person whose name was not duly published by INEC or ANSIEC or any other electoral body within Nigeria as a nominated person for any election within Anambra State.’

Section 3[2] also states that ‘Any person who acts in contravention of subsection [1] of this Section is hereby declared to have engaged or to be engaging in an unlawful assembly with intent to cause public disorder and breaches of public peace.’

The bill falls in tandem with the provisions of the nation’s electoral laws as well as the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.

The bill which was presented by the Majority Leader, Hon Harford I. Oseke, representing Awka South 2 Constituency, went through the first, second and third readings without any dissenting voice. The sitting dissolved into committee of the whole house for consideration and debate of the provisions of the bill after it sailed through the second reading.

WHAT I SEE: I SEE THAT WILLIE WILL SUCCEED

It has become urgent to disburse the mind of coterie of disgruntled elements who from the sidelines of events, especially men of the vestiges of the past administration, have continuously wished and prayed for the crumbling of the present government in Anambra State, but little did they know that the present administration is not only formidable in earthly foundation, her mission is in line with the eternal mission of things even of all things that there are. Let me say it ones and for all: Willie’s administration is in line with the spirit of the time.

There are things that I see in Willie that informed my avowed assertion, one: “Sincerity”. From the time of the military till  the end of the administration before Willie’s, our commonwealth have sadly been entrusted to wrong people, men who have not for ones, as their actions depict, spared a moment and consequently believed that Igboland must be expanded in all spheres. This value, ladies and gentlemen, must not be neglected. It is the spur of all things in this respect. Even Hitler in all his dictatorial demonism loved Germany and wanted to expand her coast. Love for fatherland is the foundation of survival of nations and countries and this love cannot but breed honesty, an attribute of which the current managers of Anambra State are richly in endowed with.

Chief Victor Umeh’s March to the Senate

Chief Victor Umeh is no stranger to the politics of Anambra state and Nigeria in general; over the years, he has demonstrated a brilliant ability to stand firm in the rescue of the Igbo nation from the hands of political jobbers and misfits whose major interest in politics is the acquisition of lucre while offering poor representation.

As we get set for the forthcoming general election, the people of Anambra Central Senatorial Zone are once again faced with the daunting option of electing a man of strong moral and political fibre to be their voice at the Senate of the Federal Republic. Interestingly, we have an array of individuals stepping forward to be counted in the race to the hallowed chambers of the senate. Where then is our choice and what are the qualities we should be looking out for in electing an individual that would speak for us?

We have Chief Victor Umeh, Ohamadike Ndi Igbo. At the risk of sounding rather too immodest, I make bold to say that Chief Umeh towers greatly above every other person asking for our votes come February, 2015. It is pertinent at this juncture to remind the people of Anambra Central to be mindful of where we are coming from, and where we are headed. We must be quick to jettison the politics of yesteryears that had in the recent past denied us of the much touted dividends of democracy.

Obiano wins Integrity, Anti-Corruption Award

The high-performing governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has been named winner of this year’s edition of the Nigeria Integrity and Anti-corruption Awards.

According to Ethics and Corporate Compliance Institute of Nigeria who instituted the awards, Governor Obiano earned the confidence of the awards panel for his commitment to public safety and security.

In the words of Dr Dagogo Lawrence, a spokesman of the institute, “Governor Obiano has demonstrated that the challenge of securing of lives and property could be prioritised and achieved with prudent leadership and focused direction.”

Speaking further, he explained that “in a very short while in these times of insecurity he has eradicated armed robbery and kidnapping in Anambra State and people who could not return home under previous regimes in the state for fear of insecurity and kidnappings now throng the state on regular basis. This has given fillip to commercial activities and investment drive in the state.”

Providing further insight into the awards, Dr Lawrence explained that the award was instituted to “uphold and applaud the courage, determination and great strides that many individuals, companies, government agencies and other organizations have made in improving and integrating Good Governance, Integrity and Anti-corruption in the conduct of their businesses, professional or public service activities within and outside Nigeria.”

Umeh: A ‘Victor’ and his many Victories by Chuks Oluigbo

The debate as to whether someone’s given name has anything to do with how that someone eventually turns out in life is an open-ended question. But whether we are for or against, the truth is that in life, we often find individuals who go ahead to fulfil the meaning of their names in every sense of it like a prophecy, negatively or positively. One man that has positively fulfilled – and continues to fulfil – his name in recent history is Victor Umeh, the indefatigable national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the party’s candidate for the Anambra Central Senatorial seat in the 2015 elections.

An accomplished estate manager and surveyor, Victor Umeh came into Nigeria’s political firmament like a shining star. He was a founding member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 1998 and a pioneer member of APGA in 2002. Ever since then, his light has never grown dim and his name has remained synonymous with victory.

Like a dogged fighter and an astute politician that he is, Umeh has, in the course of taking APGA to greater heights and building it up as the third-largest political party in Africa’s most populous nation, fought many battles, scaled many hurdles planted in his way by his detractors, and won many legal victories to remain on top as APGA helmsman. When those desperate to remove him from office dragged him to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Umeh floored them when he took the party’s financial books to the commission, then headed by Farida Waziri. It was a highly impressed Waziri that reportedly showered praises on Umeh for keeping the party’s books clean.

Just as recent as June 18, 2014, the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal once again affirmed him as the authentic national chairman of APGA, setting aside the ruling of the Federal High Court, Abuja, which had earlier sacked him and installed Maxi Okwu as the chairman on January 15, 2014. In allowing the appeal, the appellate court insisted that Okwu had no legal right whatsoever to bring a suit against Umeh, having been earlier expelled from the party.

2015: Why All Eyes are on Governor Obiano

Looking at the rising profile of Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, one cannot but marvel at the aptness of the Igbo saying that when a child washes his hands clean, he joins his elders at the dinner table. It is very much in evidence that in less than nine months, Chief Obiano has made a fast job of washing his hands and now sits comfortably at dinner with the elders of the clan.

What may never stop fascinating most people might be perhaps, how someone who was dismissed as a political jellyfish, a stooge of the erstwhile governor he succeeded and a free-falling rookie barely a year ago could have made such a swift transition to substance and reckoning. Nothing perhaps reminds us of the aphorism – never judge a book by its cover, as compellingly as this.

In what seems to be the race of his life, Chief Willie Obiano practically raced through his first nine months in office and left naysayers gasping on his trail with astounding results. It is not certain whether, he felt stung into action by the condescension from some people who thought he would be submerged by the enormity of his office or not, but from his very first day in office, Obiano had cut the image of a man who had set a performance test for himself. It was so easy for people to see that he was hell-bent on making his own myth from the priorities he set for himself. His single-minded pursuit of a secure and safe Anambra began as an obsession and then blossomed into an article of faith. Anyone who is familiar with South Eastern Nigeria would know that if there was ever a challenge that had defied all solutions across the ages, it was the menace of criminals in Onitsha and its surrounding towns and villages. Until recently, crime in Onitsha had grown like a tumour over time; absorbing the nourishment of its environment and gaining the absolute surrender of its victim. It was as though any administration could build roads, schools, hospitals and even factories but turn a blind eye to the rampant kidnapping and violent armed robbery in the state and still win the applause of the people.
